by Regan Poarch on

Last Thursday, Startup Summer participants, along with Notre Dame’s Race to Revenue group, enjoyed an incredible day of innovation and networking at 16Tech in Indianapolis. Over 30 collegiate entrepreneurs representing 18 startups from four Indiana colleges and universities came together to expand their networks, learn from industry leaders, and immerse themselves in the vibrant startup ecosystem.

Starting the Day at The Mill

The day began at The Mill, where eager student founders arrived by 10:45am. By 11:00am, the bus was loaded, and the journey to Indianapolis was underway, filled with anticipation for the activities ahead.

Welcome to 16Tech and Lunch with Race to Revenue

Upon arrival at 16Tech at noon, participants were warmly welcomed and treated to a delicious lunch hosted by Notre Dame’s Race to Revenue group. Butler’s Pizza provided a fantastic meal, setting the stage for an afternoon of collaboration and learning.

The afternoon kicked off with a tour of the 16Tech campus from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Participants were inspired by the cutting-edge facilities and the innovative environment that 16Tech offers to startups and entrepreneurs.

Insightful Small Group Meetings

From 2:00pm to 3:30pm, small group meetings with representatives from TechPoint and gener8tor provided invaluable insights and mentorship. These sessions were a highlight, offering personalized advice and strategies to help the young entrepreneurs accelerate their startups. We extend our gratitude to TechPoint for providing the space and their invaluable support.

Relaxation and Networking at Happy Hour

After a brief break, the group enjoyed a Happy Hour from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, generously sponsored by Elevate Ventures. This relaxed setting allowed participants to unwind, network, and share their experiences, fostering a sense of community and support.

Evening Fun at Victory Field

The day concluded with a visit to Victory Field for an exciting baseball game. From 7:00pm to 9:30pm, participants cheered on the home team, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and reflecting on a day of learning and camaraderie.

Reflections and Feedback

Returning to The Mill at approximately 10:30pm, participants shared their positive feedback. One student expressed, “I wasn’t sure I wanted to stay in Indiana, but now I will find a way.” Another noted, “Meeting the founders from Notre Dame made it feel like we’re not alone here. I’ve got peers building their companies too.” The supportive environment and resources were repeatedly highlighted as major benefits.
