Street Naming Contest

by Oct 18, 2018

Our Street Naming Contest ended yesterday, on October 17. We had over 350 unique submissions, ranging from the humorous to the serious. As we’re pouring over submissions, here are a few notable entries, before we announce our finalists at our upcoming Launch Party on November 15.

  • Don Belton Way – Don Belton was a notable IU professor of English who was murdered in 2009, and whose death was a blow to the English department.
  • Jiffy Street – A play on a famous Bloomington ice cream haunt: Jiffy Treet.
  • Streety McStreetface  Of all of our submissions, this is the most prominent, with over 10 entries, giving Streety McStreetface a prominent spot in the run-up to the finalists.
  • Cottage Grove Ave. – Although our guidelines don’t permit us to submit redundant street names to the Monroe County Council, we’ve received multiple submissions for this unusual street name.

Our finalists for the street naming contest will be named at our upcoming Launch Party no November 15. See you then!
