Final Street Name Submissions Roundup

by Oct 25, 2018

It’s sad to see it go, but this is our last post with regards to rounding up interesting Street Naming Submissions! We’ll be announcing the top 25 street names in the next week, and narrowing it down to our finalists, which will be announced on the day of our Launch Party, November 15.

So, without further ado, here are 4 final submissions that managed to catch the eyes of our staff.

  • Hoagy Carmichael Way – The iconic songwriter, who wrote the hit song “Stardust,” and many other works that now belong in the great American songbook is an alumnus of IU.
  • Tech Park 2 The Electric Boogaloo – A nod to both the film Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, and the various iterations that the Trades District has gone through over the years as a hub for new businesses and innovation in Bloomington.
  • Yes Way – No explanation required, though it would be interesting to see this go through the Monroe County Council as a certified street name.
  • Geordi Ave. – Apart from the ever-popular effort to name a street and commemorate Captain Janeway of Star Trek Voyager, this is the only other Star Trek submission that has been entered over the course of this entire contest.

Looking forward to whittling down the rest of the Street Name Submissions, and see you at the Launch Party, where we’ll announce our finalists for the Street Names!
