FROM VICTORY TO TRADITION: KAPPA ALPHA THETA VISITS THE NEW CHALKBOARD MURAL
Every year, The Mill introduces a brand-new chalkboard mural in our coworking space, a creative celebration of milestones and community achievements. This year, we’re honoring an unforgettable moment in Bloomington history: Kappa Alpha Theta’s Bike Team winning the Women’s Little 500. And we were thrilled to have the team visit The Mill to see the mural and kick off one of our most cherished traditions—adding the first signatures to it.
The mural, designed by Alice Knipstine (@getinthetruck), captures the electrifying moment of victory as Bailey, a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, crossed the finish line to secure their place in Little 500 history. The team’s visit was not just a celebration of their athletic achievement but also an opportunity to connect their legacy with The Mill’s vibrant tradition of creativity and community.
A Mill Tradition: Leave Your Mark
Since its inception, The Mill has welcomed teams, startups, and community members to sign the chalkboard mural. This symbolic act represents the collective ambition and innovation that thrives in Bloomington. Kappa Alpha Theta’s signatures are the first of many to grace this year’s mural, leaving a lasting reminder of their victory and connection to The Mill’s mission to foster inspiration and collaboration.
A Moment to Remember
During their visit, the team gathered around the mural, reliving their thrilling race and sharing memories. Bailey, who crossed the finish line in their iconic win, was especially moved by the artwork—a visual representation of a moment that will live on in Little 500 lore. Their reactions, from awe to excitement, perfectly captured why this tradition means so much to The Mill and our community.
