Applications Open for Spring 2022 Code/IT Academy

by Feb 1, 2022

Applications are now open for the spring 2022 cohort of Code/IT Academy, our free upskilling program! If you have a basic understanding of computer systems and network infrastructure—either from learning on the job or in school—and you’re motivated to change your career trajectory, this session is for you.

We’ve partnered again with Ivy Tech Bloomington to offer a free 10-week program that prepares students to take the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. This certification is a springboard to intermediate level cybersecurity jobs. It validates that someone has the baseline skills necessary to perform core security functions. It’s a first step into a rewarding, in-demand IT career, and it’s completely free. We’re grateful to Ivy Tech for their partnership, and to the City of Bloomington for their generous financial support.

The program kicks off on March 8 (tentative start date) and runs for 10 weeks. Participants will come to The Mill twice a week for hands-on instruction (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:30-7:00 pm). They’ll also need to put in about 3 hours a week outside of class. There’s no virtual option for this session. We’ve found that it’s just more engaging and easier for students to learn and stick with the program if they connect with classmates and the instructor in person.

Need a quiet place with great WiFi to study for the class? NP, we’ll give you a part-time membership to The Mill. Need access to a laptop to participate? We got you. Need to practice interviewing and get a little coaching on your new career? Included, thanks to Ivy Tech’s Career Coaching and Employer Connections. And when you complete the course, we’ll give you a voucher to cover the cost of the certification exam.

Code School is truly an opportunity to change the trajectory of your career. Put in the work, and we’ll support you. How can you use Code/IT Academy to change your life?

The deadline to apply for the CompTIA Security+ cohort is February 25. Learn more and apply here.
